Handheld Space is owned and operated by a dedicated two-man team. While we have decades of combined technical experience, we both maintain full-time careers outside of the workshop.

Balancing our day jobs with a high volume of complex repairs has become genuinely difficult. When time is limited, we prioritise the consoles physically on our bench — and we never take shortcuts. The quality of our workmanship will always come first.

However, as a result, email replies and turnaround times are significantly delayed.

Pricing?

We thought long and hard on how to simplify the buying process for our customers and unfortunately in the end we were unable to find a way to price the hundreds of possible services we can offer for your Gameboy.

With the vast amount of options it would be impossible to figure out which parts our customers would like to opt for, or whether they'll be supplying their own parts we just had no easy way of setting out a clear and consistent pricing structure for an endless number of potential services, shipping options and custom parts

We can, however, offer you pricing on BYO mod installation services:

BYO USB-C Rechargeable Battery Installation: $129
BYO IPS Screen Installation (includes soldering of touch sensors wiring): $129
BYO Housing Installation (e.g., Boxy Pixel's, ExtremeRate or FunnyPlaying housings): $129

If you'd like us to source a particular bundle for you, there's a 20% supply fee, which requires a non-refundable deposit upfront.

We can also replace the battery in your Gameboy cartridges for $59, which includes a quality battery supplied by us.

Major discounts apply when bundling multiple services for the same console (i.e., we don't charge any additional fees when installing a solder-free IPS display during a shell-swap). Our $129 fee covers an hour's labor, and in most cases, if the job can be completed in less than an hour, that's all you'll pay.

While we no longer have a physical location for visits, we're still here to help! All our repair and modification services are now handled through our convenient mail-in service.

To get started, simply email us with your repair needs, and we'll provide detailed instructions on how to send your device to us. Most modifications and repairs are completed within 48 hours of receipt, ensuring a quick turnaround time.
